Organizing Office Space Tips
Having a well organized office space can make you more productive and efficient to work in your office space. Whether you work in your own office space, designated are of your bedroom or dining room, staying organized can pose one of the biggest challenges as an entrepreneur. While spending a majority of our time working in our office space, commonly we tend to let go the filing and organization. There are always more important things to do, and a lot of our documents and files get piled for to be attended later. However, most of the time, people end up clutter overtakes our office space, and it is harder to be organized, find necessary documents, and over all be productive.
Here are some tips for getting organized and staying that way in your home office space:
Chair and desk choice and placement should allow you to flow from one task to another smoothly. If you find yourself bending uncomfortably every time you answer the phone or retrieve a file, then some rearranging is in order. Storage items and file cabinets that you access frequently should be positioned close together ...

Adequate lighting is a must and oftentimes task lighting the key to successfully reading printed materials. Combine an overhead fixture for general room lighting with a good desk lamp for task lighting.
A reading stand with an adjustable arm can also be a great help for holding material you are copying from or referring to while on the computer.
Cleaning out your desk and desk drawers. It is beneficial to clean up your desk every day after you finish your work. There is a lot of recycled paper that you do not need news papers, and other mailing that can be place in the recycler bin, and disposed later on. Keep your desk drawer clean as well. Separate each drawer for supplies and other office documents. It will help you to stay organized, and be able to find things when you need them.
Make your office space functional. Keep your current files and documents you are working with every day close by, so they are easily accessible. The documents that need immediate attention, or some pending matters, can be placed on the desk using the table shelving or file folder.
In your file cabinet use the basic alphabet system for your clients, vendors, contractors and other things. You can also spate each file drawer for each type of payer or payee. And to make it easy to find things, make sure to label each file using the label maker. It will look nice and neat.
Keep the top of your desk clear of clutter, papers and other personal items that cause the destruction and take up a space. You can always place those important to you personal items in the office space, but away from your desk; such as shelves, walls, and other parts of the desk that is not used daily.
The items that should be kept on your desk at all times are: computer, phone, printer, fax, rolodex , note pad, pens and pencils placed in the special holder, that has room for other small office supplies items.
Keep your office space equipment areas clean and uncluttered. Make sure there is plenty of paper placed next to the printer and copier machine. You can the tall shelving to place all of your equipment in one space
Use cork boards or magnetic boards to post your special notes, important phone numbers, and things to do.
Make it in to everyday priority to create and follow your To Do List. It will make it easier to make sure that everything is done and completed, and if the project of the task is still pending you can follow up on it. Use the calendar that is installed in your Microsoft Outlook as reminder for appointments and things to follow up on, or you can use a desk calendar.
Use a variety of containers to organize loose office supplies, such as paper clips, staples, pens, envelopes, stamps and other small supplies. Use a variety of desktop organizers (vertical or expanding file holders) or trays to organize papers that come across your desk.
Use storage boxes to store dated files that you no longer need immediate access to for business. Purchase magazine boxes to store booklets, magazines, or catalogs you want to keep. Mark the spines with large print labels for easy access.
If you like to keep some interesting articles form your favorite magazine, just reap the page of it, and make a folder that can be filed away.
At the end of your working day, make sure your desk in your office space is clean, files and papers are put away, so the next day you can start your work day with out going through the pile of stuff.
Make another folder for your favorite take out menus, so it can be easely found when need it.
