How To Choose The Right Paving Solutions
It doesn’t matter which areas you want to pave over. The main thing to remember is that you should always look into all the possibilities you have available to select from as a potential solution.
The first thing to bear in mind is whether the area you are going to pave is going to be walked on. If you want to create a path that will be used by lots of people you need to make sure it will be up to the task that is asked of it. For example a garden path is going to receive a lot less use than a path that winds its way through a garden centre and is used by thousands of people a year.
You can see that the second example will require a far more robust path that will stand the test of time. A lot of people might elect to use gravel in such a situation. But even gravel will be trodden down and moved eventually. This will require fresh gravel to be laid on a regular basis, adding to the overall cost of maintenance.
Fortunately there are solutions available. For example you can lay down a plastic grid that allows you to pour the gravel into it. The grid is comprised of lots of little holes ...
... that can be filled with the gravel in order to stop it being moved around quite so much. A plastic grid like this would also be a great solution for ground that is not flat. For instance if the path heads up a slope you can still use the gravel as a solution, without the fear of it rolling downhill!
Another advantage of using this kind of material to form a pathway is that it provides you with a porous pavement . If you were to rely on slabs or even just earth to tread down to form a path, it might be fine until the rain decided to fall. As you can imagine muddy conditions are not good as they can be slippery for those using the path. However the grids are able to provide you with a porous pavement that allows the water to drain down through the gravel that fills them up. As you can imagine this means far less maintenance for you and far safer conditions when the weather is bad.
It does show however that it is easy to find the right solution for your paving and pathway needs, no matter how big or long the pathway needs to be. You can also use the grids with the knowledge that they are made from recycled plastic. This means that even though they have a long life you can still recycle them when their life eventually comes to an end.
