The CTET is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi and the governing body if the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the government of India. The examination is conducted every year and any person who wishes to sit in the exam has to fill a form and give a written examination thereafter on the scheduled date. The fee for the form has been fixed at rupees five hundred for the candidates belonging to the general category and rupees two hundred and fifty for the candidates who belong to the SC/ST and other backward categories.

The next exam of CTET will be held in the year 2012 the forms for which are available from the fifth of November 2011 to twenty fifth of November 2011. The form can be submitted offline as well as online. The last date fixed for the submission of the forms is thirtieth of November 2011. But in case of candidates who reside in the remote corners of the country, a grace period of seven days is allowed. This means that their forms will be accepted up till the seventh of December 2011.

The date for the examination for the year 2012 is twenty ninth of January. The test will be conducted in two shifts and will consist of two papers, each one of which will be of one and a half hours of duration.
