Inflatables are by their nature a little delicate, so here’s a few tips on repairing an inflatable boat.

*Valve replacement, all inflatables be it a zodiac fast-roller, or a bombard aerotec have valves, and all valves will wear out in time due to the rubber seal that they need to keep the air in. Valve replacement is easy, every inflatable boat valve has an inside part and an outside part, the inside part is just a glorified nut, it holds the outer part in place and tightens to make a seal on the tube. To replace the valve you should only need to grab the inside part through the tube by hand and insert your valve key from your inflatable boat repair kit into the face of the valve, unscrew the valve anti-clockwise and once the thread is undone the valve will come out, just reverse the process using the new valve and tighten securely. If you need to replace the valve inside part (the nut) then you will have to push it through the hole in the tube and the reverse for the new valve nut. It is a tight squeeze but it will fit!

*Leak repairs, these are the most common faults you will find with inflatables, you will ...
... need an inflatable boat repair kit which you can find from any outboards for sale dealer. If you have ever successfully repaired a bike inner tube then you need read no further, rough up the patch, rough up the area to be glued, put 3 thin layers of glue on both patch and tube with 5 minutes in between each layer, then wait 5 minutes longer and press the patch onto the boat tube, use a rolling pin or similar to really drive the patch onto the tube, its as simple as that!

If you have a boat with cracks in the fabric you have not bought wisely and the boat should be discarded, try to stick to boats that use either hypalon like top end zodiac boats or avon boats, or buy a boat that uses the best pvc’s mirasol is good, these are boats such as quicksilver inflatables, zodiac inflatables and bombard also use this fabric. The best quality PVC is valmex manufactured by mahler texnologies, it’s german - say no more. Seapro inflatable boats are made from valmex.
