Cyber Monday May Be Costing Your Company Thousands Of Dollars – Use Internet Monitoring Software!
With nearly every e-tailer advertising Cyber Monday's fantastic deals, shoppers are excited to shop and thrilled to save money; but when do you suppose busy employees will get their online shopping done? In 2002 Pearl Software commissioned a survey of 2000 US companies and found that half of all employees with online access planed to do holiday shopping from their company computer. We suspect that number has grown over the years.
What does this mean for your business? We can paint an example with a bit of conservative math: twenty five employees at a medium-size business wage of sixteen dollars an hour, each wasting four hours a week (which according to some experts is quite a modest estimate) over forty eight weeks (being generous and dropping four weeks for holidays and vacation in this example) turns into a surprising seventy six thousand, eight hundred dollars. This is not an extreme scenario. At the extreme end of what some experts believe, that being sixteen hours wasted per employee a week, the tally comes in at over three hundred thousand dollars a year ($307,200 to be exact)! Many employers wish they could see how their employees spend time online. Using computer monitoring software employers can get real-time reporting of every action employees take online.. Employee monitoring software records email, chat, text, downloads, and websites accessed. In addition, using this software, employers can restrict websites, downloads, or time allowed surfing the web.
Employee internet monitoring software keeps track of every keystroke, so employers can see exactly what their employees are chatting about, what videos or pictures they are looking at, and the order and time they spent on these activities. In this way it is possible for employers to block certain sites that may adversely affect employee behavior or compromise the system with viruses.
The software can also be used to discover company theft of intellectual property. When an employee copies something to a disc, memory stick, or in an email, the software records the action.
