How to Buy Blinds and Shutters in Denver and Save BIG Money

Living in a city like Denver is always exciting. Our residents enjoy hiking, biking, rafting, riding, skiing and many more outdoor adventures. Denver is a great place to live. It's no wonder why CNN Money listed Denver as one of the top places to live. From Littleton to Broomfield, to Parker to Castle Rock, new homes are being built. New families are moving to Denver for the high-quality lifestyle. New homes equal new windows, and new windows means people are in need for new window coverings. Here is my formula to choosing new blinds and shutters and save a bundle.

First, determine what type of product you would like. The best way is to go on the web and search for photos. TIP: When you do a Google search for plantation shutters in Denver, Google, Yahoo, and Bing, all of the pictures have an images link to your left. Click on it, there will be hundreds of photos of what you are searching for.
Now, ask yourself what is important to you.

Q) Is design important to you?

Q) Is light control important to you?

Q) Is privacy important ...
... to you?

Q) Is light energy conversation important to you?

Q) Are Green products important to you?

Next, we need to determine if you're looking for a soft treatments or hard window treatment.

Examples of Hard Window Treatments:

Shutters, Blinds Aluminum-Wood, Woven Wood Shades, Roller Shades and Verticals

Examples of Soft Window Treatments:

Honeycombs, Shadings, Draperies, Panel Tracks and Shears

After that decision, determine the brand you would like. This is where you'll be able to save BIG money. The secret is most all manufacturers buy their componentry from the same manufactures. If you don't care about brand names, then this is where most of your savings will come from.

Do name brands offer more for your money? Yes and No. They certainly cost more-but for the average consumer buying a white plantation shutter or white 2" wood blinds-you can save significant money by buying an off-brand product.

A roller shade from M&B is basically the same as a roller shades from Hunter Douglas, all for less money!

Cell shades from J.C. Window are basically the same as a Cell shade from Hunter Douglas, for less money as well!

A 1" mini blind from J.C. Window costs 1/2 of what you would pay for basically the same blind from Levolor.

Now we need to select a professional to do the job for us. There are a plenty of options, but only a few make economical sense.

1) Hiring a designer can Very expensive.

2) Hire Costco-Very expensive. Costco sells mostly Hunter Douglas Products.

3) Hire Home Depot or Lowe's-Moderately expensive and very inconvenient. You'll have to make 2 trips to the store.

4) Hire a discount shop at home service-Great pricing, fast and easy. Check out http://www.coloradoshutters.com

5) Do it yourself through mail order-Good Prices, very risky, possible poor quality.

6) Buying off-the-shelf at Home Depot or Lowe's- Extremely poor quality.

7) Wal-Mart or Target off-the-shelf- Extremely poor quality.

I also recommend using social media to find referrals. Utilizing the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Yelp, you will be able to find a company that meets your needs.
YouTube is a great place to find videos for local vendors. Since YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine, you'll find plethora videos. Search for, "Planation Shutters Denver," or "Shutters Denver," or" Window Blinds Denver," or "Window Coverings Denver," or even, "Denver Blinds," and you'll find several helpful videos.

Search for websites with many photos; websites that offer free reports on window coverings. Spend some time educating yourself. Once you're educated, it's time to schedule a few appointments and get some estimates. Always get a written estimate. This is key. Make sure you ask for any required licenses, insurances, and accreditations.

In the past 20 years it is standard in the window covering industry to receive Free measuring and Free installation on all products. If someone is trying to charge for these services, simply call someone else.
