The groom with its family members goes to the bride’s place. According to custom, the groom has to ride on a horseback to the wedding venue. The Kanyadaan ceremony in a Hindi matrimony is the ritual of giving away the bride’s hand to the groom. The bride’s father holds her hand and places it on the groom. The priest chants Vedic mantras and shifting the girl’s responsibility to the groom. The father also asks the groom to take care of her at all times. In the ritual of saat phere, the bride and the groom encircles the holy fire seven times. According to Hindu customs, marriage is the bond of seven lives. Each circle around the holy fire represents one life. The ritual of vidaai is a sad ceremony. It is the farewell time for the bride from her parent’s house. The bride’s leaves for the groom’s house and bids farewell to her friends, siblings and other family members. Hindus believes that after marriage, the house of the groom is now her house and she will treat it her own.
