Vishu, the main Wayanad festival is celebrated in the month of April and as it is considered as the first day of New Year, Vishu is celebrated with great fervor and delight. Onam, a ten day festival is celebrated as a tribute to the glory of virtues over vices. Asthami Rohini is a Wayanad festival that celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna. On the other hand, Easter and Christmas are celebrated with great glory among the natives and mainly the Christians. Bakri id is a sacred festival of Muslims and a part of major Wayanad culture. Other important festivals of Wayanad are: Karthigai, and Mahashivratri.
