Calangute is a small beach town situated amidst the heart of the Indian state Goa which has turned into a big tourist ground over the years for the tourism industry of Goa. Also known as Kohlongutt in Konkani, Calangute offers a perfect holiday for tourists with its charming beaches and natural beauty. Calangute is popularly recognized as one of the most commercialized beach in Goa and is flourished with tourists from all corners of the world throughout the whole year. The name Kohlongutt carries the lineage of its invasion by the Portuguese. There are many stories linked to the history of Calangute which adds a romantic and mystic element to this small beach town.

Calangute is flocked by visitors throughout every season of the year but during the festival time there is a huge amount of tourist flourishing to the beach town. Also a visit to Calangute during festival allows the tourists to enjoy the colorful festivals of Goan culture along with the town’s natural bounty. The major festivals of Calangute are: Christmas, Good Friday, St. Xavier's Feast, Feast of the Three Kings, and the Margao Feast.

All these festivals are celebrated by the natives and tourists with great excitement and pomp. As the majority of the natives are Christians therefore Calangute festivals are mostly Christian. But people irrespective of caste and religion celebrate these festivals with the spirit of harmony and merriment. The most important Calangute festival Christmas is celebrated grandly and added with the New Year celebration and thus tourists experience a grand celebration throughout the last days of every year. Thus, a visit to Calangute during festival allows tourists to enjoy the festive flavors of the beach town.
