Be Wary Of Wicked Backdoor Santas
Whenever we hear the word Santa, we often associate this with Christmas and giving. But if only this Santas were really meant to benefit us, backdoor Santas do make a list of our habits whenever we use the Internet but unfortunately not to give us gifts but more on problems. Where do these information land? While there is no specific base that they would fall into, surely it will be something that will be up to no good.
Why is it doing that? To be truthful, this is a different Santa indeed. Backdoor Santa is a silent invader of your internet browser, put there to spy on you. It is a spyware. You will not even know it is present on your computer.
We all hear of Trojans right? Well backdoor Santas are no different from them. Technically, they are like intruders that can create havoc to our computers and though they may not be considered a serious threat, no one will ever know. But you should not even wait until the threat escalates from minor to high risk. Backdoor Santas are not categorized as spyware for nothing.
Backdoor Santa will not give you any ads, or popups, nothing to indicate that it is on your ...
... computer. What then gives away its presence? Toolbars attached with your internet browser is where you should look for it. How your toolbars behave when you do internet searches or browsing is the key. Toolbars like Alexa and Hotbar are two examples of Backdoor Santa.
They usually originate from programs that come from downloads or supposed compressed files in lieu of the official ones being offered in the market today. The stalking horse goes to work whenever you see ads every now and then popping on your computer.
Just when you thought that anti-virus software was all you need, mischievous programs such as the backdoor Santas call for actual specialized spyware software today to fight off their presence and potential threat.
Anti-virus programs are not sufficient. While some cannot even trace their presence, even the anti-virus programs we usually have installed may not even help to disinfect or get rid of them since they are programmed for virus problems only.
Backdoor Santa is also a cookie installer. Cookie is a small program saved in your temporary folder to facilitate faster download of web pages and update web pages you visit repeatedly. Backdoor Santa starts downloading and saving third party cookies (cookies belonging to websites other than those visited by you). This again alters the way you surf. Unwanted web pages keep opening for you to view.
With that said, there is no telling if these backdoor threats are already on your computer. But people do not have to wait for them to notice their presence. It should be custom practice for people to take note of these spyware threats by making daily checks which would not really take so much time to do.
Take preventive measure and have a good anti-spyware software installed on your computer protecting you from such bad programs. Anti-spyware program will not just remove Backdoor Santa, it will also prevent Backdoor Santa from downloading again.
