Winter Sun In Tenerife
The superb summer weather in tenerife has always been a huge draw for tourists heading to the island. The captivating lunar landscape, used in movies such as Star Wars and Planet of the Apes, luxury hotels and beach activities all add up to map Tenerife as a summer holiday hotspot. But what about the winter? With December temperatures dropping to a very comfortable 20 degrees, flights and hotels lowering in prices and the island being much less populated by summer crowds, winter really is the ideal time to visit.
Different Clientele
During summer the beaches of tenerife attract young holidaymakers, looking for a cheaper equivalent to the pricey super clubs of Ibiza. Fun in the sun is the island motto. Unsurprisingly this niche clientele immediately puts many other tourists off visiting the island at this time. Once the weather in tenerife changes so does the type of island visitor. Gone are the young partygoers in their skimpy bikinis, in are the families and couples looking to explore the quieter side to island life. Take a stroll through the national ...
... park and Mount Teide, where the stunning black volcanic flanks dominate the landscape or enjoy one of the many hiking routes that interlace the surrounding hillside. Super club? What super club!
Hidden Village of Masca
If you look at a map tenerife soon appears endlessly fascinating for the intrepid explorer. Fringed with stunning beaches, coves and cliff edges it is unsurprising that the island revolves around the sea, with swimming, snorkelling and fishing being popular beach activities. Look closer at the map tenerife will unearth the hidden treasures of Masca. Consisting of a cluster of traditional Canarian farming cottages resting in a ravine this picturesque hillside village is a photographer's dream. Explore the surrounding gorge or simply take in the view. It is truly breath-taking.
Flowers of Tenerife
If you haven't seen Alan Titchmarsh for a while, he will most likely be in Tenerife admiring its vast array of exotic flora and fauna. Many species of rare and endangered plants thrive on the island and can be found nowhere else, making Tenerife a holiday haven for gardening enthusiasts. Endemic specimens such as the Red and White Viper Bugloss, The Parrot's Beak, Lotus Berthelotii and the Dragon Tree inspire hundreds of green-fingered travellers who map tenerife as a mecca for all plant lovers. Unfortunately you can only admire the plants here, rather than take them home as the weather in tenerife incubates a unique micro climate in which the wildlife naturally thrives.
