One would not normally expect a subject like commercial printing to be of great significance to a person’s life. When it all boils down to it, commercial printing is not much more than simple business, where customers approach a commercial printer in order to commission any print jobs that they do not wish to handle by themselves. However, even something as ordinary as commercial printing can be part of an exciting story, and to prove this, let us flip back to the start of a person’s life. It may be quite of a stretch, but it’s surprising how commercial printers can sneak in some instances now and again.

The Wedding. Actually, it may be better to start off when before you were even born. There is a good chance that your parent’s wedding was a grand affair that was planned for months or even a year before the occasion. If this is the case, then it is most likely that a commercial printing company was hired by your parents or the wedding planner in order to print out the dozens to hundreds of invitations that were distributed to all of the people related to either side ...
... of the family. Fast forward to your own wedding around two to three decades after, and your printer may have just printed for two generations worth of weddings.

School life. Of course, you would hardly expect your parents to approach a commercial printer to print out your baby photos, toddler photos, and other small-scale projects which can be handled by your own home printer. However, as you grow up, start school, and climb up the grade levels through the years, the commercial printer in its own subtle way is experiencing these things right with you. The answer sheets and questionnaires for your tests, that candy wrapper you threw away while eating in class, the letterhead and envelope sent to you by each and every one of the colleges you applied to, the gift wrapper for your graduation presents, and many other things like these, all of which at some point sat in a special printer inside a commercial printing company.

Work. Most likely this is the only part of your life where you have the highest probability of actually dealing with a commercial printer on a regular basis. Ordering company posters, notepads, calendars, stickers, and every other thing you could think off, this is the phase where you really notice commercial printing as a business trade and realize that a lot of the things found around you came from the hands of professional printers. Usually people just take it for granted that the plastic bags from the stores have specially printed logos or that the energy drinks they buy have unique labels and printed information on them, but as working professionals in a corporate world, you may start to realize that commercial printers have a broad scope of customers, including the company you are working for.

Admittedly, this is a bit of an odd, peculiar look into the world of commercial printing. Most people are not so obsessive as to overanalyze every detail in their lives and suddenly relate these aspects with a commercial printer. Still, even more unusual is that when you think of it (and you normally won’t), printing is, has always been, and may continue to be part of our daily life. You just rarely notice.
