Among the most important things that are required by a human being to survive, is clean water. Clean water is not only used for drinking purpose, but also for other household chores. There are many places in the world where there is immense scarcity of clean water. People in such areas struggle to get water from any source and preserve it as much as possible. Again in many places, abundant water is available but it is not clean water that is fit for consumption or usage. In such cases, water purifying agents or systems have to be used that can purify the water and make it fit for drinking and usage. Clean water is free from germs and contaminants and that is obtained with the help of water purifying systems.

There are various kinds of water purifying systems that are available commonly. While some of the systems are small and can be installed in homes for domestic purpose, some water purifying systems are huge and provide clean water supplies to large cities and towns. However, almost all the water purifying systems are based on a common scientific principle in which the contaminants are filtered out and ...
... clean water is obtained. What differs is the size of the purification system. There are some processes that are carried out in the water purification systems. They are as follows:

Pre treatment of the water that includes pumping, storage, preconditioning and pre-chlorination.

The pH of the water is also adjusted so that the water is neither acidic nor alkaline.

Flocculation is done so that the water becomes transparent and clear and turbidity is removed from the water.

Sedimentation method is probably the oldest and the most common way of water purifying to get clean water that can be used for drinking and for other chores.

Filtration is the most important part of the entire process as all the suspended particles and unsettled items are filtered out to give clean water.

Disinfection of the water is a crucial part of water purifying as it helps in removing all kinds of elements from water that might cause diseases and infections.

Storage of clean water after disinfection is probably the last step of this process.

Again there are many different ways in which pre-treatment, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection is done in the various water purifying systems to get clean water.
