The typical orders usually handled by commercial printers are requests for brochures, catalogs, business cards, and others such paraphernalia. These are things you would usually expect inside an office, a department store, or other business settings like these. It is, however, interesting to note that there are other types of businesses that can house a lot of products straight out of the commercial printer’s equipment.

Let us take for example a normal, non-fast food restaurant. While its primary trade is to feed the mouths of hungry customers, there are certain aspects in a restaurant which rely on commercial printing.

1. Posters. Each restaurant has its own motif and store design, and in some restaurants, part of the decoration is the advertising posters put up along the walls or the glass windows. These are a good way to whet the appetites of the customers inside the restaurant as well as those just passing by, serving as a subtle encouragement to order new or popular dishes. In a way, these posters are more direct, makeshift menus. For restaurants with many branches ...
... under single ownership, full batches of these posters are ordered from time to time as seasons pass.

2. Napkins. They are not usually noticed, seeing as their uses are limited to wiping stains and spills on mouths or tables, but most all fancy restaurants have their logos branded onto their napkins. In other restaurants even, their history and milestones are listed, making for a fun read while the customers wait for their waiter to deliver their orders.

3. Placemats. In order to save the employees the effort of constantly cleaning and replacing the placemats, some establishments opt for specially printed paper placemats. These are more convenient and easier to replace, and used mats just go straight to the recycler once the customers finish eating. Again, fun facts and stories may be read in these placemats.

4. Table toppers. Sometimes beside the condiments on top of the tables, there are printed pieces of paper stuck in glass containers displaying special promos currently offered by the restaurant. If the posters, the placemats, and the napkins aren’t enough, these are again designed to capture the attention of waiting customer in order to squeeze another order out of them. They may be small, but they are quite effective.

5. Menus. The last but not the least is the menus themselves. Especially for restaurants who constantly change their offered dishes as the seasons change, a commercial printing company often receive orders for special menus to be printed. We all know what a menu is, and if there’s one thing we know as hungry customers, it is that the better-designed the menu, the higher the chances of us pigging out. Don’t even deny this.

The next time you eat out with your family, your friends, or your significant other, try to keep a lookout for these items inside the restaurants. And when you do see them, you will know that these items are there thanks to commercial printing and the commercial printers behind them. Just think, if commercial printers cease to exist, what would you read while you wait for your order?
