Diarrhea, also known as loose motions is the frequent passing of watery stools and as a result of which the body gets depleted of essential salts and fluids. Some of the main causes of diarrhea are food poisoning, allergies, overeating, laxatives, excess consumption of alcohol and caffeine. There are several home remedies for diarrhea which will help in quick recovery without any harmful side effects.

One of the simplest home remedies for diarrhea is to mix a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water and sip it slowly. This mixture has to be consumed frequently. You can even drink coconut water which is a very hydrating and restorative drink. Orange juice is also a good option, dilute orange juice with water and add some salt to it. If the patient has become very weak by loss of body fluids then pomegranate juice is the best option.

Apple is another quick remedy for diarrhea. Peel and shred the apple and wait until they turn brown in color and then eat them. Or you can even eat cooked apple.

To stop the cramps and pain you can have ginger tea or ginger juice. Drinking liquid rich in starch like the barley water and arrowroot water is also beneficial for treating diarrhea. Brown rice also helps in curing diarrhea. Cook brown rice in water for 45 minutes and then strain the mixture. You can have the rice and drink its water. Having mango nut powder with a glass of water also helps in curing diarrhea. One of the natural ways to treat diarrhea is to take milk which has been blended with half teaspoon of cornstarch and chopped red radishes.
