When it comes time to book your next vacation, why not travel to an exciting city that is both stunning and unique, but offers a rich history? For the ultimate destination that is sun kissed year round, maybe you should travel to Szeged Hungary. Szeged is called the City of Sunshine, because it has the nicest climate in Hungary, and the most gloriously sunny days in the country. Szeged was founded on the river Tisza, where it joins with the river Maros. From 5000 BC to today, modern peoples to mammut hunters have inhabited this city. Later, Szeged served as a center of commerce for the Romans in the 2nd century BC, with a German tribe settling later in the 3rd century BC.

Szeged has been a trade route for the Romans and other countries for centuries, and was given status as a town in 1246. By the 14th century, Szeged became an enormous trade center because of the continuing development of the city and its rights given it by the king. Soon after, Szeged became a military base for armies that stood against the Turks, and was a starting point to every military installation in the southern regions. Szeged earned status as ...
... a free royal town in 1522, when its population was a whopping 7000 people.

Szeged served as the headquarters for the Freedom Fight of 1848, and rapidly grew from then on. Szeged was called on for military services, and it offered its sons for the war effort, of which 2/3 would never return home. When the Trianon Peace Treaty ceded the province of Transylvania to Romania, the University of Kolozsvar was moved to Szeged. This university is now one of the best-known universities in all of Hungary.

The economy of Szeged is primarily food processing, due to the agricultural conditions and food factories in the area. In terms of travel, Szeged is easily reached via many important highways that lead to Romania and Serbia. With extensive festivals and events that are held in Szeged each year, it is becoming a tourist attraction for people around the globe. Some of the incredible offerings that Szeged has for tourists is the stunning Dom Square, which is a church that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, following the town's rebuilding following the Great Flood of 1879. For young people, the Dugonics Square offers a fountain that plays music, and many different fairs and events take place there as well. For history buffs, the Mora Ferenc Museum offers an extensive exhibition of folk items, antiques, and much more.

For a more relaxing visit to Szeged, the Anna Spa and Bath is an exceptionally eclectic building that provides exclusive opportunities to relax, for both young and old. With its natural thermal water source, this bath is an exceptional curative bath. Szeged also offers stunning botanical gardens, with many different species of exotic and domestic plants to enjoy. There is also an animal park, where you can take a tour and see rare animals that are being kept in the most natural setting possible. No matter what your interests, Szeged has something for everyone.

For your next unique and relaxing vacation, visit Szeged in Hungary.
