Causes Of Breast Cancer That You Should Know
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women. The exact causes of this cancer are not yet clearly identified. It is believed that the abnormal growth of some breast cells is the main reason that leads to the occurrence of cancer. It typically starts in either the milk ducts that transport milk from the beast to the nipples or the milk-producing breast lobules. The cancer that begins in the milk ducts is known as ductal carcinoma, and the breast cancer that occurs in the cells of lobules is refereed to as lobular carcinoma. There is a rare breast cancer, known as inflammatory cancer, which happens when the lymphatic vessels in your breasts get blocked by the cancer cells. Sarcoma of the breast is also a less common type of breast cancer.
Early it can be completely treated with therapies like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, and surgery. Try to do regular self-breast exams to check for any lumps or changes in your breast. It is very important to contact your doctor immediately if you find anything suspicious during your breast exam. However, it should be noted that a large percentage ...
... of breast lumps are not malignant or cancerous. Other signs and symptoms that can be caused by breast cancer include a bloody nipple discharge, variations in the size and shape of the breasts, inverted nipples, and redness of the breast skin. Dimpling on the skin and peeling or flaking of the breast skin may also indicate this type of cancer.
There are certain factors that can elevate the chances of developing breast cancer. Both genetics and environment factors play a role in causing breast cancer. BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations are the two most common causes of this cancer. Those who have a history of breast cancer in their families are more at the risk of getting this awful illness. Women seem to be more prone to this cancer than men. Age is also a risk factor for cancer. It most often occurs in women who are over 50 years of age.
Obesity is another factor that can increase a woman's risk of this cancer. Fat generates estrogen and it helps cancer cells grow. Hormone replacement therapy that involves a combination of progesterone and estrogen can also contribute to the occurrence of breast therapy. This type of hormone therapy is mainly used to treat menopausal symptoms. Obviously, postmenopausal women who use hormonal replacement therapy to deal with their symptoms have an increased chance of getting this cancer.
Drinking too much amount of alcohol can make you more likely to get breast cancer.
Exposure to radiation therapy may also lead to the development of his disease. Both early menarche and late menopause are risk factors for this cancer. If you had your first menstruation before the age of 12, your possibilities of developing this cancer are much higher. Similarly, women who reached menopause after the age of 50 are vulnerable to breast cancer. The risk is also more in the women who delivered their first child after the age of 35.
