Computer Networking
You create a computer network by connecting at least 2 computers. They share the same software and hardware. You can share and transfer data among the computers in the network. Local area network (LAN) typically connects computers at home or an office. Wide area network (WAN) covers a larger area. They can even connect computers across continents. >, Computer networking also vary in terms of layout and design.
• The server/client network – a centralized system supports most of the functions. They are used in businesses.
• Peer–to-peer network – computers capable of interacting with each other and supporting the same functions. Used for home networking.
TCP and IP are some of the protocols used in Computer networking. Protocols are a set of rules governing the network operation. Though wired networks are still around, wireless networks being faster and reliable are taking over rapidly.
Network Management
This entails managing the various tools, procedures and activities pertaining to the operating, maintaining, ...
... provisioning and administrating a networked system. It does not include managing the terminal equipment of the user.
• Operation takes care of the smooth running of the network. It monitors and spots potential problems before it affects the user.
• Maintenance involves upgrades and repairs as and when necessary. It also involves preventive and corrective action. Maintenance is the most crucial aspect for topics network management to be effective.
• Provisioning is configuring the network resources to support the services it might require.
• Administration is the boss keeping track of how resources are assigned. If the administration is not strong, networking will collapse.
Sometimes, investigating network issues are complicated. This is because the tools that enable the operation staff to identify network problems are not enabled. Acrodex is a trusted solution provider. No networking problem is beyond the expertise of Acrodex technical experts.
Network Security
To understand security, you need to understand firewall. So, what is a firewall? Let’s say its’ a security gate between a public and a private network. This machine determines which traffic can pass through and which should be blocked. The firewall you need for your network will depend on the network’s size. A basic firewall will suffice to protect your home network. A strong firewall is required for a large business. >, Network security threats are of different types. Denial of service (DOS) – these are difficult to detect and are particularly nasty. A particular computer in the network is bombarded with more tasks than it can handle. This method of attacking is thankfully becoming less common. Unauthorized access is another threat. The attacker tries to access information he/she is not supposed to access. No matter how good your security, access passwords need to be strong and you must be careful about who you agree to be friends with online.
