When the industry is focusing on the annual Nokia World Assembly of Nokia—the global mobile phone giant, an important factory of Nokia in Europe—the Romanian factory is hit by takeover.

According to foreign media reports, India's largest drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories and China Telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE are competitive in the acquisition of these plants to pry open their markets in Europe.

Yesterday, one executive of ZTE, who did not want to tell his name, revealed to the reporter of “Daily Economic News” that ZTE had had the determination of opening the Eastern European markets earlier and planned to construct a mobile phone assembly line in Romania before the first half of 2012. Currently, ZTE is actively promoting the acquisition, hoping to set up smart mobile phone assembly line by taking advantage of the Nokia factory to expand ZTE’s market in Eastern Europe. However, it refused to disclose details of the negotiation and the acquisition as well as the amount of money involved in the transaction.

Relevant information showed that Nokia mobile phone manufacturing plant in Romania was ...
... set up in 2008, manufacturing mobile phones and mobile phone parts for the markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with a total investment of 1.2 billion euros ($ 174 million).

According to the “Daily Economic News”, as for a series of adjustments of ZTE in 2011, an important part is to completely transform to intelligent terminal through the terminal service in order to further enhance its market share in Europe and optimize product distribution, expecting to enhance the overall profitability of the terminal business.

It is reported that the high-end mobile phone of ZTE—Skate4.3 currently has gone to the market in the United Kingdom, France, and Spain first, but it has not been introduced into the our country.

According to ZTE sources, its products mainly aim at the domain of 2G and 3G entry-terminal. In 2012, it is estimated that ZTE's plant in Romania will produce 350,000 to 500,000 units, focusing on the production of Skate4.3 and Blade2 mobile phones. Meanwhile, it also wants to use this factory to produce TV products.

At the same time, Nokia refused to comment on the acquisition.
