The main point of yoga postures is to teach you about breathing mindfully. This is why the postures must be completed in the right way. While doing yoga, you should be stretching your muscles, but you should never feel pain. Also keep in mind to never hold your breath.

Mountain yoga poses

For this you have to be standing on your feet, pressed together and into the ground. The toes have to be pointing forward while the hips are in square with the body. You can have your arms at your sides, by your heart in a praying position or raised above your head with your palms facing each other. No matter what arm position you choose for this one of the yoga postures, your shoulders should be relaxed.

Warrior

You have to start with mountain and then take a step back, into a lunging position. The back foot should point to the side and it should be straight during this one of the yoga poses. In case of the front leg the ankle and the knee should be in a straight line. The hip has to point in the same ...
... direction as the back toe. Raise your arms to your side, with the palms up or down. This one of the yoga postures needs you to look in the same way as your hips are pointing and you should do the warrior on the other side as well.

Downward dog

For this one of the yoga poses you will have to start with the mountain pose. Then place your hands on the ground and make steps back with your feet until you achieve an inverted V shape. The feet during these yoga postures should be hip width apart. Keep the legs straight and raise your tail bone towards the ceiling. Relax the neck and the shoulder blades should be glided towards the hips. Keep the arms straight with the hands flat.

Tree

This is one of the balance yoga poses. Start with the mountain position, and then lift one of the legs. Place this leg on your thigh with your toe pointing downwards. The hips have to be facing forward during these yoga postures and you must pull in the abdominal muscles in. The arms should be at your sides or in some other position and keep the shoulders relaxed.

These are some of the basic yoga poses that all beginners should know about.
