Win Money Betting The Breeders’ Cup Races

Amidst the smorgasbord of wagering options to be offered on the betting menu, the bettor can often find himself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices available.
Rolling pick threes and rolling daily doubles are offered on every conceivable sequence, two pick fours will be offered on both Breeders Cup Friday and on Saturday. In addition to the annually offered pick six, a pick five will also be offered.
On top of that, we have the other single race exotic bets such as the exacta, trifecta, superfecta, among others.
If the bettor tries to bet various wagers available to him on every Breeders Cup race, he could find himself not optimally allocating resources and may bet so many races in so many ways, that he might not devote the proper amount of time to the best betting races.
So what is the best betting race? Of course it depends on the field and it really depends on what kind of payout you are going for.
For example, if you want to go for a more reliable outcome but a less gigantic payoff, the Breeders Cup Classic is generally a fairly formful race. Furthermore, the Classic field tends to ...
... be a little smaller, so there is less potential for chaos. It is true that there is an upset every now and then, but even if the winner is a bit of a long shot, the top finishers are usually fairly predictable. Last year Blame over Zenyatta over Fly Down was a fairly obvious first three finishers. And in 2009, Zenyatta over Gio Ponti was reasonable as well. In 2008, there was a bit of an upset in Raven’s Pass and Henrythenavigator (though perfectly reasonable for those who knew that grass horses were likely to do well on the Santa Anita synthetic surface), but before that we had Curlin, and Hard Spun finishing one-two which was very reasonable. If you play the exa cta or trifecta, you will probably get a decent payoff and relatively high likelihood of hitting it compared to the other races The reason is probably because at longer distances, the field has longer to “sort themselves out”, as opposed to the Sprint which is a mad dash.
If you are looking for a high risk, high reward type of bet, then try the trifecta in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. The turf Mile has a reputation for paying huge on the exotics. It is generally fairly formful on the win end, but the trifectas generally pay enormous. The reason is because often an unexpected horse holds on for a bit longer than the public expects. He isn’t good enough to be the winner, but is good enough to place and show, and so he causes the trifecta to be huge. An example would be in 2009 in which favorite Goldikova won but the second and third place finishers were big longshots, being Courageous Cat and Justenuffhumor at 23-1 and 17-1 respectively. As a result, the trifecta paid $705 on a $1 bet, which is not bad considering the favorite was on top.
