Network Inventory In Seconds With Newt Professional
Most IT professionals realize that as business grows, so does the demand for tracking an increasing number of computers on their network. Along with the escalation in the number of PCs comes an amplified difficulty in managing them. At one time, performing Software and Hardware Inventory required physically going to each machine andtabulating configuration data by hand. Thankfully this tedious work is no longer required due to improvements in operating systems and third party softwre. IT professionals still crave effective Network Management software to help with PC Auditing and Network Inventory. NEWT Professional has been in development since 2003, offering continuous improvements to speed and ease-of-use, and is now capable of scanning 100 computers in less than 5 minutes. The savings of time and effort offered by this speed along with its multitude of scannable items makes the software valuable to organizations of many sizes. ...
... That value is increased even more by offering the first 25 nodes for free.
Network Management products use two major methods of gathering information. One is by using an agent for data collection from each machine. Others employ agent-less methods. Agent-based method usually needs software to be installed on each system within a network, which usually needs manual updating. On the other hand, agent-less products often require visiting individual machines to correct Windows security settings. These may also take hours or days to perform a full Network Inventory. By using hybrid scanning techniques, NEWT Professional minimizes these problems, reducing audit times from hours or days to just minutes, while also eliminating the need to physically install software as many agent-based products do.
NEWT Professional works with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, and even Windows NT 4. Read/write access to the ADMIN$ share (administrator or "admin dollar" share) is usually the only requirement for successful PC Audits. Improvements in the Network Inventory engine have greatly reduced network bandwidth usage, so now even slower Internet-based connections like WANs (Wide Area Networks) and VPN's (Virtual Private Networks) can be audited with very little impact.
Because NEWT Professional is so valuable for providing total Network Inventory on a wide variety of networks, many consultants and Managed Service Providers (MSP) have depended on this software for gathering information about customer networks. In addition to the usual Software and Hardware Inventory data, such as CPU info, Windows and Office product keys and system serial numbers, NEWT Professional also offers unique low-level information such as USB type (1.x, 2.0 or 3.0), accurate hard drive types (IDE, SATA, SATA-II and SATA-III), true hard drive warranty serial numbers, monitor type (LCD vs. CRT) and even CPU & hard drive temperature.
After data is collected, it can be viewed in NEWT's easy-to-read spreadsheet views, saved to NEWT's proprietary format, exported to text, HTML or Excel, or a fully relational MS Access (MDB) database.
In short, NEWT professional is a valuable tool for Network Inventory technicians, allowing them to perform Network Audits quickly and affordably.
