Did You Give Freeline Skating A Shot Yet?
Ryan Farelly’s brainstorming led to the birth of Freeline Skating which is a new version of extreme skating that set the skaters’ community thinking about lots of things including Freeline sports. Designed in the year 2003 this kind of skating was borne of the concept that rather than standing tall on top of wheels, a skater can just stand on each set, thereby taking out the complex elements of conventional construction of skates. In contrast to ordinary blades and skates, these skates need not be feet-strapped.
Freeline skating offers a collective experience as though doing surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding simultaneously, which in itself is an enthralling experience if you’re an aficionado of extreme sports. In freeline ports, a pair of skates contain 2 distinct plates made of metal which come with two wheels fitted to each plate by means of a well designed truck, just like how a skateboard deck is attached to its wheels. Unlike standard wheels of a skateboard, the wheels come in special forms and are fitted to each side. For extra grip, a plate specially made out of aluminum is used which is wrapped ...
... around by grip tape. In all, this setup resembles two small skateboards with independent wheels attached to the skateboards.
As freeline sports grow bigger in popularity, more and more people are getting induced to try it out, which in turn leads to launch of many new versions of such skates. This trend would continue to be prevalent in many markets seeing that the awareness of the sport is getting better day by day. Even the history of extreme skateboarding suggests usage of several varieties of different skateboards which were easily distinguishable from one another. Thus, there is no doubt that several new varieties would be lined up and released once a particular model creates enough interest.
What makes Freeline sports a bit more exhilarating than conventional boarding techniques is the learning technique. If the statements of those who have tried it are to be relied on, this technique is quite hard to learn, no matter how familiar one is with any other corresponding version of extreme sports. One has to go through a number of instructional videos available on YouTube and other portals that aim to help one get the hang of it. Granted, freeline skating is kind of not easy to master, but if you are looking for some challenges to enjoy, don’t turn yourself away from the real challenge of doing freeline skating.
Most commonly these skates are used on downhill slopes which are not that steeper, and incorporate several movements one could see in other extreme sports. Of course, it throws up a bit of twist which is unique to its form and nature. With that said, freeline sports is such a challenging action-filled sport that lets you enjoy exciting opportunities to make better use of your skills and innovate so you can create your own technique.
