Things To Consider When Painting Kitchen Cabinets
Kitchen cabinets are an inherent part of your kitchen and need special care to make them look good over the time. Over time grease, water, heat, stains, and food residues leave unerasable marks on these beautiful kitchen cabinets. It you don’t want to spend a huge sum of money buying new cabinets, you should browse through all the available options and choosing the most appropriate one. It is difficult to replace them every time they got damaged. So, it is better to give them a makeover by painting them. If you do it yourself, you will eventually save huge sum of money. In addition, you will have an added advantage of the creative satisfaction you’ll earn on doing the work yourself.
Make sure to spare 2-3 days before painting kitchen cabinets yourself. In other words, there will be three days for eating out, so plan the work when it is most convenient. Alike any other painting work, the most important thing is the color selection. Another factor to consider is the size of your kitchen. Although you have the options of dark and light shades, keep in mind that light colors give a feeling of spaciousness. As kitchen ...

Before kicking off the painting work, clean the surface as much as possible. Don’t forget to remove grease and stains from the surface. Remember that cleaning for a do-it-yourself paint job is different from the typical hygienic cleaning pattern that you follow. Cleaning ensures a regular and even finish to the paint work.
Check the surface for any cracks and damages because paint will not cover up these flaws. Use coarse sandpaper to clean the surfaces and file down the scratch marks and cavities with wood putty. After cleaning the surface thoroughly, prune old enamel surfaces with a primer. You can choose between oil-based primer and water-based primer. Choosing an oil-base primer is a better option because the paint readily sticks to it.
While painting the stiles, make sure to cover the counter top with a masking or a painter's tape. Begin the paint job from the least accessible points and work outwards. Next, paint the inner surfaces first and then move to the outer ones. You can also consider using spray paint to give your work an even and uniform look.
