When going for an MBA course, students have a lot of enthusiasm. But while choosing the particular type of MBA course, many of them get into a dilemma about which one would be the best for them. As regards to the types of courses that are available, there are degree courses in masters in business administration, post graduate diploma courses, post graduate programs and fellowships in management, phds in management and the distance and short term management programs like executive MBA, correspondence MBA and quick MBA.

Since management courses can be pursued by graduates from different streams, these variations have to be properly weighed before finally deciding on the particular course. Many students go for the direct full time MBA courses after their graduations. For this, there is probably not much to think of except for the types of specialisations and the particular colleges because different entrance exams for management admissions are conducted.

But when people get into jobs after completing their education, they need to think about the courses that doesn’t have full time classroom studies. This is one ...
... of the primary reasons for doing the correspondence MBA or distance MBA. Being in a job, the distance MBA would let them remain in their current jobs and simultaneously go for the management courses, which would later help them give a boost to their careers, in either the current position or in some kind of career change. This is a very good reason for a lot of fresh students who are into jobs, to go for the correspondence MBA.

Due to financial constraints, many students are not able to continue their education, and so, their dream of doing management is stopped midway. For such students, the distance MBA is a great opportunity to work and finance their MBA programs.

Furthermore, the cost of such management courses is quite low than the full time courses. During the course of the jobs, many a times, people find that they could do better in their work profile, if they would have some management experience or background. In such a situation, the executive MBA is preferred as it helps them complete the management course within a very short period of around a year.

And also, they can pursue the management course specialisations that are relevant to their jobs. For example, people who are in retail industry can go for the retail management and improve their chances at promotions and better salary. Similarly, those graduates who are in the pharmaceutical industry can augment their opportunities by doing a pharmaceutical management course through the executive MBA program.

This kind of specification has brought such types of short course MBA programs into popularity. In the correspondence, distance or executive MBA, students can find large number of specialisations apart from the usual streams of human resource management, finance management and marketing.

Last but not the least important reason for the popularity of the correspondence or distance MBA is because of the availability of such courses in various universities. Indian School of Pharmaceutical Marketing, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Annamalai University, Amity School of Distance Learning, Bharathi Vidyapeeth University, IGNOU, Punjab Technical University, ICFAI University, and many more such institutes and universities are there, which are promoting the short term, part time and correspondence courses, building up the popularity among the students and the professionals.
