Toy Safety And Toy History/facts
Toy Safety:
Your encouragement will help to foster a sense of responsibility and teach that care must be given to valued belongings. Since toys are among the first things a child considers his or her own, adults should encourage a youngster to assume responsibility by demonstrating how to use and care for toys.
Spot check toys regularly for minor damage and urge children to let you know when toys need repair. Children, especially very small ones, often put toys into their mouths, so the materials used to make a toy are regulated to prevent poisoning. Be certain that eyes, noses, buttons, ribbons and other decorations are securely fastened and cannot be pulled or bitten off.
Some toys which are marketed for a specific age range can even harm the development of children in that range. Toys with small pieces, such as these Lego, elements are required by law to have warnings about choking hazards in some countries.
Playing with toys and behaviour:
It is not necessarily the most expensive toys that provide the greatest stimulation and enjoyment. Children should be encouraged from an early age ...
... to get involved in the selection of their toys. Dolls like Fulla and Barbie are often criticized for what they teach children about gender roles.
Physical skills are developed through movement as a child learns to reach, grasp, crawl, run, climb and balance. Language develops as a child plays and interacts with others. If you disapprove of a particular toy, dont buy it. Be careful to explain your reason for refusing as a forbidden toy can even be more attractive!
