Usually, the groom along with the family members goes to the bride’s house on the wedding day. According to custom, the mother of the groom will not be a part of the groom’s wedding procession.

The wedding rituals in Hindu Oriya Matrimony include rituals like ‘Baadua Pani Gadhua’, ‘Kanyadan’ and ‘Haath Ghanti’. Kanyadaan means giving away the girl. This ritual is significant as the father of the bride gives away the bride hands to the groom. The bride and the groom also circles around the holy fire seven times. The groom takes vows to take care of bride and respect her decision.
