When you’re in the market for a paint job estimate for a freshening up on the interior and/or exterior paint of your commercial or residential property, and you’re searching for the right contractor to get the job done, you may be wondering precisely how many estimates will have to be performed before you are able to choose the painter whose abilities and price are most suitable for your needs. Some of the elements that you may want to consider during your estimation process are your budget, paint quality, the quality of the painting supplies and the additional factors that may play a part in the total costs.

Products of the highest quality cannot make up for a lack in professional ability, so when it comes to the number of estimates you pursue in making your decision to hire a contractor, the answer is: As many as it takes to find someone whom you trust on a professional level. This individual and his or her team will, after all, be working in and/or around your home.

Primers and paints can cost anywhere from $10.00 to $50.00 per gallon. A 144 square-foot room can take anywhere from $25.00 to $100.00 ...
... worth of paint to cover in addition to the $10.00 to $75.00 that it will cost for primers and other supplies (i.e., painter’s tape, drop cloths, brushes, rollers, paint pans, etc.). In addition to the costs of supplies, which will vary dependent upon the grade and quality you’ve chosen for your project, you can also expect to pay $200.00 to $400.00 for the work to be performed.

With these costs in mind, there are a few other considerations that you will have to make when weighing out your contractor options. How tall are your walls? Rooms with walls that exceed the standard eight-foot height can be more costly. Do you want the ceiling painted? While you may be operating under the assumption that a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling would be part of getting your room painted, it may not be part of the package deal present by your contractor; you will need to make it a point to present the question. Lastly, are you willing to move your own furniture? The performance of this task may garner you an additional fee in your billing, and it would be prudent to make an inquiry of such when conducting your painting estimate contractor interviews.
