Laying The Foundation To A Greener City
There is a fast growing culture within Dallas composed of residents that appreciate and insist on Green Living. Modtown Realty along with its parent company, The Greener City Group, has been aggressively involved in developing and building green dallas homes.
But the limited outlets for sustainable living was creating frustration for many residents. In response, Modtown began co-developing Green Dallas Homes with various strategic partners in the area. Together, they adopted strategies to promote “green” building. They began planning urban development to create strong and healthy neighborhoods, targeting sub-markets within Dallas that are uniquely defined by their geographical and historical significance. What exists in these sub-markets are a variety of vibrant lifestyles that welcome the urbanite while catering to the rural family.
The Greener City Group is dedicated solely to environmental issues concerning green Dallas homes, providing tips for residents to ‘go green’ at home. It is the goal of The Greener City Group to do just that, create a Greener City by developing green Dallas homes.
Today, ...
... Green Building is standard for private construction, and Dallas is among the first major cities in the U.S. to adopt a comprehensive green building standard for all residential and commercial construction. In fact, there is a City-owned Facilities Requirement. All City-owned buildings over 10,000 square feet must be built to LEED Silver standards. As of 2010, the City has now completed 17 green facilities. Dallas has completed the certification process on several green buildings, boasting 5 LEED Gold, 9 LEED Silver and 2 Certified buildings.
Existing buildings are being retrofitted with high efficiency heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and lighting systems and included upgrades for insulation, energy efficient heating and cooling equipment, radiant barrier decking, and Energy Star refrigerators or dishwashers and roofing materials that substantially reduce the amount of energy needed to cool a building.
The Greener City Group is taking the green initiative by developing sustainable homes that exceed environmental legal requirements. These green dallas homes are reducing overall energy use through numerous means, including use of lighting upgrades, solar panels, high efficient heating and air conditioning systems, and automated building controls.
Modtown Realty will leverage its commitment to “green” construction in campaigns to encourage private sector developers to follow its example.
