Several years ago that old car had some serious potential when you bought it. Now it is years later, and you have spent too little time and restoration has gone nowhere. You have decided it’s time to admit that you just don’t have it in you to tackle the job. Now you are left with the question of what the heck to do with the car – it doesn’t run so who will buy it?? The above scenario is very common among car enthusiasts and among regular folk alike. What you may not know is that there are places that will actually buy scrap cars – for real money.

While it is an option to try and sell the car on your own for parts, or hope that someone will have the same idea you had and want a project car – that can be very time consuming and disappointing if you cannot find anyone to sell the car or parts to. There are now much better options available to you if you are in need of getting rid of a junker or a car that is non-operational. Maybe you just don’t have money or time to fix the car up, or maybe it is has damage from water or fire and it’s beyond fixing. Whatever the case may be, you do have some easy ...
... options.

The best thing to do when trying to find someone to scrap cars is to call around. Many salvage yards will buy your scrap car. You should be able to call the company and give them some details over the phone and they can tell you if and what they can offer you for the car. These salvage yards are a great resource. As long as you have a clean title, and the keys to the automobile, the salvage yard can come and get it. Many of these companies will even come get the car for free, provided it is easily accessible and not obstructed by anything. In addition to buying your junker, salvage yards are great places to go to find used or aftermarket parts for a vehicle you are still driving and have an interest in maintaining or repairing. You might also ask them if they buy scrap metals that you may have lying around as well. Many used auto parts businesses buy scrap metal in the form of aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel and more.
