A Cpap Machine Might Actually Help Kids Improve Their Education? Cpap Machine Solutions For Young C

Parents all share the same concerns for their children. They want them to be safe, healthy and well rounded. Of course, education tends to also be at the center of a child’s life. There could, however, be some underlying sleep issues that are preventing a child from reaching their potential. Many parents might be surprised to know that a CPAP machine might actually help kids improve their education.
Observations from Teachers
Teachers often relate stories to parents about their children appearing inattentive and unfocused during class. Parents might, unknowingly, perceive that it is a sign of lack of motivation or a behavioral problem that needs to be dealt with many times with discipline. However, new research has indicated that an alarming number of children actually have some type of sleeping disorder. A recent study has shown that children diagnosed with ADHD are also frequently sufferers of a sleep disorder.
Various Signs across Different Ages
According to research, children will exhibit various adverse behavioral signs ...
... due to sleep deprivation at different stages of their development. Young toddlers will often end their nap to early, resort to temper tantrums and remain agitated throughout the day. Once children reach elementary school, a typical signs are hyperactivity, irritated or sleepy during the day and possibly, exhibit behavioral problems. In the teen years parents may notice intense mood swings, lackluster grades and hyperactivity.
Meds or Sleep?
Parents should become more informed about sleep issues and understand sleep deprivations signs and symptoms. More doctors are suggesting sleep studies before they are willing to prescribe any prescription drugs. A sleep study is quite simple, effortless and painless. The child would first be subject to a full physical examination. Visiting a sleep center or even home testing would be required to evaluate sleep patterns and determine if there are underlying sleep issues such as sleep apnea. If it is determined that the child suffers from sleep apnea, a CPAP machine, in most cases, could help rectify the situation.
Among children, some of the common problems associated with sleep are asthma, reflux, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea. However, most sleep disorders can be effectively treated to allow the child to live a happy and healthy life. Moreover, as a child enters adulthood, by making changes in behavior, they could grow out of the condition.
Proven Treatment
A CPAP machine has been proven to be completely safe and nearly side effect free treatment for sleep apnea for patients across multiple ages. The machine provides enough air pressure into a CPAP mask to insure the throat remains open and there is no stoppage of breathing during sleep. This will allow for sufficient pressure for the person to get enough oxygen into their lungs and not be constantly awoken during a night of sleep. Alternatively, some people may choose to have either their adenoids or tonsils removed. However, there is no concrete evidence supporting that this method is effective in alleviating sleep apnea symptoms. Moreover, there may be a period after surgery where the sleep apnea symptoms diminish or disappear only to have the problem return in a few months. On the other hand, patients that comply with the doctor’s recommendation on using a CPAP machine have a relatively high success rate of treating their sleep apnea.
Although it may take some watchful observation by a parent, along with a couple of trips to the doctor, it could turn out that a child has a situation that is easy to fix. Monitoring the child’s behavior and consulting with a physician about a sleep study could end up being the best advice a parent takes with regards to their child’s health.
