Use Concrete Bollards For Stylish Borders

It is impossible to think of any structure, without the context of the outdoor environs that surround the structure. It is often the outdoor setting that sets the tone and the expectations for the indoors! The choice and placement of site furniture in the immediate vicinity of the house, both in the front of and behind are integral to the visual appeal of the property in general and the house in particular. In addition to the contribution made by site furniture in terms of sensual appeal, they also play a key role in terms of their functionality. Concrete bollards are often used to delineate areas both between properties and within areas of the same property. Not surprisingly they are emerging as key elements of the rapidly expanding array of site furniture.
Concrete bollards fulfil the primary function of marking designated areas but their applications are not confined to this alone. They are used to mark traffic and pedestrian walkways and hence are invaluable in streamlining the flow and preventing accidents. They are also used for ornamental purposes and lights are often mounted on these structures, ...
... accentuating their contribution to the design aspects of the property. Smaller bollard models are immensely useful in separating spaces for designated activities within the property like the swimming pool area or the children's play area, for instance. Vines or other creepers draped on to these bollards, increase the green look of the property. In the overall context of the property, they serve a key purpose. They indicate the point where visitors are supposed to park their vehicles and then walk towards the property. They achieve this visual separation without appearing to be overtly overbearing as is the case with walls or fences. They thus serve the function of protecting the property without obstructing the view!
Since Concrete bollards are meant to be elements of outdoor furniture, the choice of material is obviously dictated by considerations such as physical strength and resistance to a wide variety of weather extremes. It is thus not surprising to note that most of these structures are made of reinforced concrete. But this places no constraint on the variety of shapes and colours available to choose from. The texture of the surface could range from polished to ground, and from exposed to etched. For the discerning few, patterns could be custom etched to specifications while a rustic cottage sits well amidst bollards with a ground texture. Reinforced concrete lends itself readily to colouring and that explains the multitude of colour options available to enable complementing or contrasting with other elements of site furniture.
Concrete bollards offer great versatility in terms of shapes too! Column shaped ones are preferred along pathways and in public spaces while smaller bollards, either spherical or square-shaped, work well for designating specific areas within the property. Whimsical shapes elevate the position of the bollards from being furniture elements to conversation pieces! Bollards with mounted lighting or those with photo-reflective coating to reflect incident light are important in marking traffic routes to ensure safety after sundown. These structures set boundaries to and within your space without cramping your style in any way!
