Kensington is one of London's western boroughs and one of its more affluent areas. It is also, also a Mecca for London tourists thanks to the huge amount of attractions in a relatively small area or within the immediate vicinity.

For one, it's in Kensington that many of the UK's biggest and most important museums are found. Along or just off Exhibition Road and Cromwell Road, you'll find the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. All three are home to fabulous exhibits – easily ranking amongst the best in the world. The Dinosaur hall at the Natural History Museum has to be one of the most amazing sights anywhere whilst many secrets, the wonders of our world are unlocked in the science museum and the sheer artistry of the ethnographical exhibits at the V&A leaves us in awe of how we have evolved as the human race. The best thing about these museums is that is more entertainment value than any one person can handle and they are all free.

South Kensington might be known as the Museum Quarter but, that's far from the only attraction. There's plenty of green spaces in ...
... Kensington as the borough is home to 2 magnificent parks – Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. They are a major retreat from the oft crowded streets and with a sojourn in either you'll find it hard to believe you are in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world.

Kensington Gardens is attached to Kensington Palace. This magnificent building was home to both Queen Victoria and Diana, Princess of Wales and the house is open for public viewing. You can tour Queen Victoria's bedroom, the state apartments and enjoy the regular, temporary exhibitions. Outside in the gardens you can spend time in the Princess Diane Memorial Playground.

In Hyde Park you can simply enjoy the tranquillity or head to the Serpentine Lake for a spot of rowing. If you haven't been all "exhibited" out, there are further displays for you to marvel at in the Serpentine Gallery.

After a day being a typical tourist you could round off the day by taking in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall which has been a major Kensington venue for more than a century. If the night's show isn't to your taste, head on down to Kensington High Street. This thoroughfare and it's offshoot Kensington Church Street is one of London's main shopping street but it is also packed with a huge array of places to eat and drink. How about heading to the unique Kensington Roof Gardens, home to award winning restaurant Babylon? There's a series of themed gardens and watch out for the four resident flamingos.

Well heeled tourist might want to head to the Fulham Road. Here you'll find a series of exclusive shops including the Conran Shop and the destination shopping and eatery, the Bluebird Café.

Living in Kensington might be beyond the average pocket but the welcome and attraction for tourists is undeniable and thoroughly accessible.
