Have you ever wondered how people have their commercial printing materials done? You probably have that is why you are reading this article. Before heading out the door and start chatting with your commercial printer you may want to be aware of a few things or go through this simple steps -

1) Know the actual rate for your needs and ready your finances
Having a little background check on how much the actual rate for your print needs are is a good thing, this way you can easily tell which prices are more competitive and nearer to each other. You should also check if the packages are the same or the additional stuff in the package is really usable for you.

2) Start searching for your commercial printers
The highlight of the commercial printing process is the searching for the commercial printing printer that will ultimately become your partner.

3) Have a clear list of all your printing requirements including the materials you would like to use like your papers, frames, binding methods. Try to be as detailed as possible with your list so that ...
... when your printers read it, they can easily visualize what you are talking about.

4) Start drafting the text for your print
Try to be as concise as possible unless you are really aiming to write a book. Keep your print needs in check and use it as a source of inspiration in writing your text, this will also help you estimate just how much text you really need to write. Squeezing the text forr it to fit in a one page material is a no- no specially if you need people to notice it, something very big though is not a good thing either because it limits the text and cuts certain words because it does not fit the line.

5) What will make your printers happy before you submit your file must have –

File type
The file formats depend highly on your printer’s reference. Ask them what they prefer and make sure to stick with those particular file types.

Crop marks
The area where everything is to be cut is important, depending on their cutting machine, they may require you to have your caution zone ¼ or 1/8 inch from the cutting line. Other details should be discussed by your printer.

Fonts
Fonts can be anything you pick out and does not necessarily have to be the commonly used, make sure however to imbed the font file to your design no matter how common the font you may think it is. Better to be sure than sorry. Before you pick out a weird font though you should think about how readable the font is with careful consideration on whether its not too small for people to read, not too large for some words to be cut, and overdesigned fonts that are too hard to understand what letter it was.

• Colors
Stay in the CMYK or Panatone Color model to avoid additional services like conversion or color matching. Most programs use RGB which limits the color range so start making your art with CMYK in the early stages.

With the help of your commercial printers, the printing process is so easy. Be nice to them because you need them to make your prints outstanding and professional looking. Commercial printing is a very easy process, the hard part of the printing will be done by the expert people in your commercial printer.
