The enormous success of the Samsung Galaxy S2 can certainly be transformed into other segments as well by launching a cheaper version of the phone. It is something that is certainly not new to this segment since the incredibly popular iPhone 3GS itself was sold in a similar way. However, the iPhone 3GS did not become a cheap version overnight, but it was made so following the launch of the iPhone 4. Samsung, though, are intent on making the features of this popular phone available to a wider audience. The Samsung Galaxy R and the Samsung Galaxy W are the phones that have been assigned this task.

The Samsung Galaxy R is a phone that is only smaller in terms of the features when compared with the Samsung Galaxy S2, but the savings in the cost will certainly be enormous. This is because the phone does not offer the high-end features like an incredible amount of internal memory and the AMOLED technology. Both these options take up a lot of the mobile phone's price, and cutting them has resulted in making the Samsung Galaxy R extremely attractive indeed. Instead of the 32 GB and 16 GB of internal memory options, the Samsung ...
... Galaxy R will be carrying only the 8 GB internal memory and there are no options to choose from in this regard. However, you can certainly choose the amount of memory you want in your Samsung Galaxy R because the phone offers the external memory card support, which can be used to increase the memory to a maximum of 32 GB.

One also gets the same feature in the Samsung Galaxy W as well, but the amount of internal memory that this phone offers this not clear yet. Still, the Samsung Galaxy W can claim to be extremely attractive in terms of features because of the 3.7 inch WVGA display. It is also not clear whether the Galaxy W will be using the same LCD technology seen in the Samsung Galaxy R, but one thing that you cannot expect in the Samsung Galaxy R is the AMOLED technology. This is because this technology is almost 20% pricier than the LCD technology, which is certainly not too inferior in comparison with the AMOLED technology. The Samsung Galaxy R also becomes the first phone in its segment to come with the dual core processor. It runs the Android 2.3.3 operating system using the 1 GHz dual core processor, while the Samsung Galaxy W offers a single core processor that runs at the same speed.

The Samsung Galaxy R and the Galaxy W are different in terms of the amount of RAM they hold. While the much pricier Samsung Galaxy R offers a rather incredible 1 GB of RAM, the Samsung Galaxy W offers 512 MB of RAM, which is very much in tune with the competition. One can expect both phones to be available in various parts of the United Kingdom in the stores within the next few weeks.
