From Radio To Online Guitar Lessons

I can remember when it was the summer of 2000, more than 11 years ago at the moment of writing. The radio was on, but on such a volume that I could actually ignore it. But I probably would have ignored it anyway since I just received my guitar. Can’t recall the brand or type but it was a rather cheap instrument. I had a little bit of experience. With a little bit I mean that I had 2 or 3 guitar lessons at the age of 8. So I could barely read the tabs.
One moment I was fully focused on my guitar but a moment later I totally forgot all about the guitar. Even forgot that I was trying to make music. Because this was when I first heard Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The DJ announced a new single by the band from Los Angeles. The first notes reached my ears and I was estatic. I just sat there with the guitar on my lap, enjoying every single second of the 5 minutes the song.
Once the song ended I regretted that I stopped my guitar course. But I also became motivated, very motivated. Because the only thing I could think of at that moment was that I have to master my instrument. I wanted to be able to ...
... play this song so badly that must have practiced for the entire afternoon. Although I have to admit, it was worth it. For a couple of hours I was a rockstar… in my head atleast. My roommates thought otherwise unfortunately.
About 9 to 10 years went by without playing my guitar. But then, approximately 2 years ago, I was driving my car. It was May, a very beautiful day in Spring. The sun shone for the first time in the past months and I have to admit, I felt good. And it only would get better, because the DJ on the radio anounced Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Somehow I hadn’t heard it for a while, probably 3 years. The only thing I knew for sure was that I needed my guitar.
That’s when I turned the car around, drove to my local guitar shop and picked up a new guitar. Went home as fast as I could and started playing. Unfortunately I didn’t know how anymore. So after I ordered some Online Guitar Lessons, since I don’t have time to schedule a guitar teacher in my spare time, I started playing again. Till the day of today I still feel like a rockstar when I pick up my guitar and think of Californication.
