An Overview Of The Key Attributes Of The Amazing Htc Wildfire S
One of the most popular HTC handsets last year was the Wildfire. This was mainly due to the fact that it offered the specs of many of its rivals but for a much more wallet friendly price tag.
There is now an upgraded version available called the HTC Wildfire S. In this article I will take a closer look at the key features of this handset and the improvements it makes over the original.
For starters, the Wildfire S has a great touchscreen. Measuring 3.2 inches it boasts a pixel resolution of 320x 480, within which up to 256,000 colours can be displayed. This makes for great display quality, so it’s the ideal phone for multimedia users. The screen is also made of Gorilla glass, which is more hardwearing than more conventional materials, so it can withstand the occasional drop without fear of smashing.
Whilst the modest 512 MB of internal storage if fine for storing a number of files such as music tracks, users can also install a memory card of up to 32 GB in the microSD card slot. This will allow thousands of music tracks to be stored within, along with any other files such as videos, documents or downloaded ...
... applications.
The HTC Wildfire S is perfectly equipped for web browsing, thanks to both HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections on hand to provide the most suitable connection based on network coverage at the phone’s location. HSDPA relies on 3G coverage, whereby data download speeds of up to 7.2 megabytes per second can be achieved. Wi-Fi is the alternative, and provides a faster and more reliable connection, provided that users have the appropriate access to the local wireless network. The phone has a full HTML browser so the majority of websites look and operate the same as they would on a computer.
The HTC Wildfire S of course has a built in digital camera. Whilst it is by no means groundbreaking, it provides everything the average user will need to take spontaneous snapshots. The 5 megapixel camera operates at a resolution of 2592x 1944, so the resulting images are of very good quality. Autofocus and face detection are included as standard, and the camera can also shoot VGA quality video footage.
The operating system on this handset is Android v2.3 (aka Gingerbread) which is the latest version of the software. This runs the HTC Sense UI over the top, which allows users to customise up to 7 different homescreens with apps, widgets and skins. The OS allows users to download apps from numerous categories, greatly enhancing the functionality of the device.
Overall, the HTC Wildfire S provides a good all round package which is sure to suit the needs of many types of user. It is versatile and easy to use, and also aesthetically pleasing. It is available now on all major UK networks, many of which are offering the handset for free with some of their tariffs.
