Bangalore, the Silicone Valley of the country, houses IT giants like Infosys, Wipro, iGate, Tata Consultancy Services, Accenture and US based companies like Google, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Yahoo, Oracle Corporation, Cisco, Microsoft, Intuit and Intel.

Another city that is soon acquiring the status of being an IT city, is Pune. Besides being an educational hub, Pune is now also a growing industrial hinterland with many information technology and automotive companies setting up factories in Pune district. Therefore, both Pune and Bangalore are the most sought after employment hotspots.

While it goes without saying that IT jobs are in demand here, another profile that is deemed to be the most sought after in these two cities is, the Marketing job profile.

Today, we would like to discuss what sets these two cities apart from the rest of the country in terms of employer expectations in the marketing job profile. To understand it better, let’s discuss the employer expectations for Marketing Jobs in Bangalore ...
... and Marketing Jobs in Pune in detail.

Marketing job overview

A Marketing manager or an analyst collects and analyzes information to determine the demand for a potential product or service. Marketing is a very dynamic profile and employers look for a talent which is equally dynamic.

Besides qualification and good grades, there are certain skill-sets that are mandatory for any potential marketing person looking for a marketing job in Bangalore or a marketing job in Pune.

Self Marketing is the key

The first step in job hunt is your CV or what you call as the resume. For a marketing job aspirant, the challenge begins here. You have just 10 seconds to impress an employer and get your CV short listed. It’s what you sell in these 10 seconds, will pave way for a future interview.

Always keep you CV crisp. Do away with mundane formats and develop one that shows your dynamic personality. Especially the section that talks about growth objectives, try to be original rather than copying something from the resume of a friend. It is sometimes good to not reveal all in the resume and rather use it as a teaser. Let your employer be looking forward to meeting you.

Remember, you are not the only one

It’s good to be confident but never let that turn into over confidence as it might be harmful. Focus on your unique selling points and what you and only you can bring to the company.

Look at the interviewer straight and if there is a panel, always address the person in name who asks you the question. This will show you are alert and attentive at the same time confident about yourself.

Don’t badmouth your ex

Never bad moth about your ex boss or your previous company. Especially during an interview, you are most likely to be asked about the reason for leaving, while it is good to be honest, you should also play slightly diplomatic here.

It’s a Marketing profile, look your best

While some may disagree but the truth is that in a marketing profile, looks do matter. It’s a profile that requires a lot of third-party interaction apart from interaction within the organization.

The interviewer will certainly be looking at your presentation and personality. Stick to an appearance that goes with your style and you’re most comfortable in. If you wear clothes that are messy, it may reflect bad body language. In a marketing profile body language and communication skills will hold a lot of points.

Marketing jobs in Bangalore, Marketing jobs in Pune is the way forward. With immense potential in the field, growth is imminent and therefore, this is the only profile where remuneration is flexible. A good marketing person, who gets business for the company may also get a fair share from the business account as incentive.
