What Are The Signs Of Excessive Stress?
Too much stress shows up in many different ways. Signs of excessive stress need to be recognized by you in order for you to find the means of coping with them and overcoming them as and when they occur. They can be emotional, physical or behavioural, showing up as symptoms.
Physical symptoms can include sleep issues, muscle stress, aching muscles, headaches, gastrointestinal problems and fatigue. Emotionally and from the behaviour side, symptoms can be realized as loss of enthusiasm, loss of energy, mood changes, eating problems, nervousness and anxiety. Some may experience irritability or depression. Yet, because everyone is different, each person has a different stress threshold, the breaking point of stress for their bodies and minds.
If you are coping with stress, your chances of involving yourself in riskier behaviours, avoiding proper health decisions, skipping exercise, smoking cigarettes, taking drugs or overindulging in alcohol is higher than others. As you allow yourself to be carried away by your vicious cycle, your physical symptoms of stress will increase and become more severe.
Your ...
... stress experiences are unique to you and no two experiences are the same. You might sail through one stressful experience with flying colors, whereas your partner or child may suffer terribly under similar stressors. As a result, any symptoms that a person has in regards to stress that are not addressed appropriately will be different from those that you might experience.
Stress varies in its effects and type. No measuring system can be devised to evaluate standardized stresses and apply it to each person because stress constantly changes and remains fluid. Even within non-stressful environments, stress can be experienced. The amount of stress experienced and the means of coping with it depends on certain things – our health, our responsibilities, our dependents, our expectations, and our support and past traumas.
Stress can be generalized about by scientists. People suffering from stress that have ample support and keep their mental faculties intact fair best in comparison to the unsupported fold and those without anyone to help them. People that have poor nutrition, have trouble sleeping and are suffering physical ailments find coping with stress and pressure harder, constantly reporting stress, especially the higher levels, but some people get stressed merely due to age. Teens, kids, adults and the elderly may become stressed simply because of life stages. Too much of any stress and anxiety is bad and it can cause mental and physical problems.
Stress may be one of the most important, yet most hated things that afflict the human race. Varied things put you at higher risk and other things make you more likely to suffer many symptoms of bad stress. Regardless, stress cannot be measured, but it can be controlled and sometimes life is just enough to cause it. So, signs of excessive stress must be things that you keep yourself constantly aware of because there is no need for you to let things get out of control and no one, but you can tell when you have reached your limits or breaking point.
