What is Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 is an ever-evolving platform that has broken standards and rules which were once considered vital for good web design. The term Web 2.0 refers to the experience of web usage being a genuinely interactive read/write process. According to research on “Effect of Web Design on the Overall Success of Web Sites” by Jorge Vega (California Polytechnic State University 2010), sites that had lower bounce rate, exit rates, but high visitor retention and purchasing security rates incorporated Web 2.0 with the following criteria in mind:

• Ease of Navigation: Websites that are easy to navigate through drew more targeted footprints.
• Interactivity: Web 2.0 has empowered users with a route for self-expression on any topic, thus opening direct communication with prospects and clients. By putting clients in the drivers’ seat, companies can use information gathered to alter current and future development, and marketing ideas to appeal to targeted audiences.
• Powerful Logos: Logos must be easily memorable and unique to propel businesses ahead of the competition, because it represents ...
... the brand identity.
• Appealing Aesthetics: Websites that are well designed with good graphics attract and retain visitors to the site.
• Simplicity: Keep the site simple minus any unnecessary elements.

SEO Web Design is a Must

Society has become dependent on search engines to find answers to anything they can imagine. Internet users typically get their information from the 1st page of search results. They may go to the second page, but rarely proceed to further pages. As a result, there is fierce competition to be ranked and remain on the 1st page. Therefore it requires continuous search engine optimization (SEO) effort to be found and remain on top search results.

With that in mind, it’s a must to incorporate SEO web design to any website. If you already have a website but no SEO, it’s like having beautiful artwork hanging in your room that only your invites will see; whereas more people can admire its beauty in a physical and online art gallery. So it is pointless in having a website, if it can’t be found the internet. Considering the significance of search engines among internet savvy and general populations, you cannot overlook the need of an SEO-friendly website.

The Need For Mobile Web

The need for a website and the mobile version of the site can never be overemphasized, especially with the following statistics at hand. Half a billion people across the globe accessed the internet using their mobile devices as of 2009, and the usage is forecasted to double within 5 years with widespread mobile devices quickly overtaking PCs. On Device Research states that in the US alone, the percentage of mobile only users is estimated above 25%. As predicted by comScore (February 2011), the number for mobile subscribers in the US and Western Europe with a phone capability of accessing the mobile Web will be 90%.
Based on official statistics from Facebook (July 2011), about 250 million active users are currently accessing Facebook via their mobile devices. In stark comparison to non-mobile users, those who use Facebook on their mobile devices are twice as active as their counterpart.

According to the US Consumer Mobile Movement Survey (April 2011), the following are reasons why companies should have a mobile Web:
• Mobile Device Users’ Reactions to Mobile Web Ads: From their mobile devices - 49% make a purchase and 27% call the business, 42% click on the mobile ad with 35% visiting the site, 32% search for more information
• Smartphone Users: 71% do mobile searches for information when they see TV or online ads
• Large Online Advertisers: 79% are still not taking advantage of the mobile web (Google/Kelsey 2010)

The growing usage of mobile devices for internet surfing is spurring the need of mobile web design among businesses across the globe.

Where to Get Custom Website Design Geared for Current Digital Marketing Technologies?

Numerous web designers are willing to take on the job of custom web designing. However, only a few have the right aptitude and experience to do justice to your web identity. Some are strong in web design, but lack the comprehension of Web 2.0 development. Others understand website design and development, but do not specialize in SEO, therefore cannot develop an SEO-friendly website suitable for being found on search engines. Others do not have the knowledge to develop mobile web to keep pace with evolving digital technologies.
