If you ever have the time to take a gander at what is being sold on eBay these days you might be very surprised and shocked at what you discover.

We're not talking about Grandma's old kitchen recipe book, Dad's favorite tie or the latest DVD movie release. For these items you're going to have to use your imagination a bit.

How about a real human kidney, it sold for over $5.7 million or an Air Guitar that went for an astonishing $47,000. A grilled cheese sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary sold for just under $30,000. Even Britney Spears' chewed gum sold on eBay for $263.

The interest for these bizarre items has risen a great deal over the years to the point where Jay Leno and David Letterman both have segments on their late night talk shows covering the weird items being sold daily on eBay. The attention these auctions began to receive led Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduate Dave Pierce to create the website GoofyAuctions.com in November of 2005. Each day GoofyAuctions.com is updated with four new auctions found on eBay that contain those bizarre and goofy items being sold.

GoofyAuctions.com ...
... is a hub for those seeking bizarre, weird and goofy eBay auctions on a daily basis. While visiting the site you may enjoy a few chuckles, a couple outbursts of laughter and likely a few murmurs of ‘Why on earth would you want to bid on THAT goofy auction?' Once you visit GoofyAuctions.com, you will never want to experience eBay any other way.

It's amazing the items that are being sold each day on eBay said Pierce who last year sold a Cheeto with the image of Denver Post sports writer and TV personality Woody Paige on eBay for $1,025. Selling the Cheeto was a lot of fun, not only did it receive publicity for GoofyAuctions.com but we also raised over a grand for diabetes research.

You don't need a late night comic or a goofy website though to point out that unique items have been sold on eBay for a very long time. In fact, the very first item sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer that went for $14.83. You can now find dozens of broken laser pointers being sold on eBay each day. So if you're free take a peak at what's on eBay, and who knows maybe your next snack could turn into a GoofyAuctions.com special!
