President and CEO of Hirschfeld Properties since 1997, Elie Hirschfeld has dedicated his professional life to real estate development planning and implementation. Since joining the company in 1976, Mr. Hirschfeld’s projects have included the development of prominent New York City properties such as the Grand Sutton, the Hotel Pennsylvania, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Park Avenue Court, the Gotham and Exchange Tower.

As President of Hirschfeld Properties, Mr. Hirschfeld is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the company and leading all aspects of development including new project analysis, lease marketing and negotiation, legal strategies, and architectural and construction management.

In 1995, Mr. Hirschfeld managed the successful redevelopment of the historic Hotel Pennsylvania, which brought the first Sports Authority to New York. This project reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and original character of properties while implementing creative development solutions that respond to the needs of the community.

Prior to joining Hirschfeld Properties, Mr. Hirschfeld worked as an attorney at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. His practice areas included real estate, financing, and banking law. While at the firm, Mr. Hirschfeld served a range of clients including Chase Manhattan Bank, Rockefeller Center and other Rockefeller holdings, the New York Stock Exchange and St. Peter’s Church in the development of the Citicorp Building.

A trustee emeritus of Brown University and Long Island University, a Director of the U.S. Board of the Weizman Institute of Science, and a trustee of St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Long Island College Hospital and New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, Mr. Hirschfeld remains engaged in a variety of educational and cultural organizations, and his philanthropy directly benefits the life of the community. Mr. Hirschfeld has served on the Board of Directors or Steering Committees for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, First Women’s Bank, the League of American Theatres and Producers, and the Jewish National Fund.

Mr. Hirschfeld is an avid sportsman, having completed the New York City Marathon and the New York City Triathlon several times, and the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon for the last twenty consecutive years. In 1990, Mr. Elie Hirschfeld completed the 12th Hawaii World Championship Ironman Triathlon. He is also an avid art collector, collecting original art scenes of New York City.

Mr. Hirschfeld graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude and President of his Class from Brown University and received his law degree from New York University School of Law.
