For so many families being able to set up camp in a beautiful camping ground is an enjoyable pastime, particularly during the summer. To make the whole thing better and more enjoyable, you and your friends should make sure you have the right kind of equipment, with the camping tent being utmost in your considerations. Knowing exactly what to look for in a tent is a great beginning to a successful trip in the outdoors. Listen carefully as we show you and your friends a few tips for buying a camping tent.

Understand Your Basic Needs As a new camper, you may be shocked if you're in the market for a tent! They come in many styles and a wide range of price running from very cheap to very expensive. However, to get an affordable tent, quality can be had. Look for some specific things. Above all, get something weatherproof and the best durability you can afford no matter what weather you camp in. And one major point to keep in mind, above all, you want it to do the most important thing, to provide you shelter.

Analyze Size Of Tent You should determine the number of people who ...
... will be in the tent. How much sleeping space do you need? Everyone will need some space. Some are simple single or double camping tents. Others will hold an entire family. Determining exactly what you need is hard because everybody has their own idea of "comfort". Use the following to discuss with your family. This space includes your wood stove
8 ft x 10 ft tent size -- 1 camper (and maybe a small dog)

10 ft x 12 ft tent size -- 2 campers

12 ft x 14 ft tent size -- 3 people

12 ft x 18 ft tent size -- 3 campers and possibly a fourth

14 ft x 16 ft tent size -- 4 people

15 ft x 18 ft tent size -- 4 up to 5 will fit

16 ft x 20 ft tent size -- 4 - 6 will fit

Things like side pockets or built-in storage as well as the layout of the camping tent can affect the floor area.

Understand Color Factor Tent color determines the amount of light that penetrates the tent. The more light penetrates the warmer it gets Light colored fabrics such as yellow, beige or white will make it brighter inside the camping tent and will also tend to reflect away the heat. A darker tent such as blue, green, black, or red retains heat and makes the interior darker. There is another factor to consider in color. Note that some parks only allow tent colors that blend in naturally like brown or green. All the tents blend in with the surroundings and make everyone invisible to others around them. Of course, search and rescue would rather see only bright colored camping tents for the obvious reason.

If you check the year-end sales or annual clearance sales you can get some great buys. You may be also able to get a good tent when stores clear out old stock for new coming in. If you have youngsters remember that investing in a tent and getting together outdoors can be a great experience. It doesn't matter if you go to the same campground every year. It's all about being together at a camping ground like Camp Municipal Des Chateaux, France.
