Taking a gap year is a fantastic way of adding to a CV, showing potential employers that you can deal with a wide range of situations and that your communication skills and ability to organise are better than average, but they also offer life changing experiences and chances.

Here at Think Pacific, we specialise in gap year options in the South Pacific Islands, which include stunning Fiji. The Fiji islands are among the world’s most beautiful destinations, but with a high proportion of desperately poor residents, they are also a brilliant destination for a meaningful gap year.

Those heading to Fiji on a gap year will find a collection of stunning desert islands, all white sand and impossibly blue water, as well as welcoming locals and the chance to really make a difference on their gap year.

Fiji is made up of some 330 individual islands and most of our gap year projects last for around 3 months, giving our gap year takers the chance to explore the variety of culture and life here.

A gap year on the Fiji islands is a fantastic way of combining relaxation with the chance to give something back and ...
... all of our gap year volunteers love the combination of gorgeous beaches and enviable weather, and the chance to help local communities and form bonds of friendship.

Each of our gap year experiences begins with a five day briefing and includes work on community projects, as well as the chance to visit jungle rainforests, beautiful lagoons and amazing villages where volunteers are welcomed with open arms and become part of the close communities.

Each gap year break here has a specific purpose, and they can be tailored to suit the skill set of those taking a gap year. Many people visit us to teach English to young Fijian children, or to work in one of the island’s many nurseries.

Other popular gap year projects include running youth clubs or teaching sport – and using white beaches lined with palm trees as a pitch is certainly a benefit for many of our gap year volunteers.
