One of the biggest disadvantages to selling online, despite its potential for making money, is probably the length of time it takes for most people, to make some substantial and regular income through it as an income steam.

Selling online does not only take a lot of time, you may also have to learn a lot of things too, before you can really make some headway with it, and it will in most cases not make you a lot of money fast, at least not as quickly as most people may want it to. Despite all these though, selling on the internet is still one of the best income streams with the highest potential for making lots of money (in the long term), on the internet if done right.

To sell online, you may either choose to sell for others as an affiliate, or sell your own product or service. You may sell with a free blog if you want, but if you are going to sell your own product or service, you may want to sell with a website, you will need to get a paid website to sell, free online sites are not ideal for online businesses, and are not really all that reliable either.

... wish to sell, or find some products to sell as an affiliate, you will need to choose a niche and target(s), and do some research on these first. You will need to know the targets that are in your chosen niche, and then choose one or more targets in the niche you will want to provide some value to, as products or services. You will also need to determine your targets' needs, wants and problems, and the possible solutions to the problems they may have in the niche.

You will need to do some reviews of the products and services that are already available for the targets in your niche. You may then need to evaluate and compare the needs and wants of your chosen targets to the value(s), the existing products or services in your niche provide, and how effective those are, at meeting your targets' needs. You may then with this, determine how you can provide some better value. This is how you will be able to create or find the products and services that will sell, and meet your targets' needs, and that will provide some real and true value.

Once you have found or created the right product or service for your targets, you may then set up your site or blog for sales. You will need to create some content for your site/blog and you will also need to do some promotions. You can create valuable content that sells for your targets by creating content that are based on the needs, wants and solutions to the problems of your targets in your niche.

You are most likely to succeed with selling on the internet if you work to set up your online business this way, without trying to take some presumably 'fast' shortcut. You will need to provide some real and true value to keep on making money not just once, but consistently on the internet through the sale of a product or service, there really is no shortcut around this.

While you may want to choose to sell online because of its potential to make money, you may also want to choose some other income streams along with it too, like freelancing, doing product reviews and giving expert advices, that will most likely make you some extra income much more quickly than selling online, while you keep on with, working to sell your product or service. You can readily use and mix more than one income streams together, to make money on the internet.
