There are a few simple things that you should try to stick to when thinking about finally taking care of that laptop and they're not too hard to do. Just follow some of these guidelines and you'll be surprised at how much smoother your laptop runs and how much longer it will last.
Maintenance Is The Key:
Consider defragging your laptop on a regular schedule. This helps at reduction and removal of unwanted spaces in your cheap laptop making it run smoother. All you have to do is go to START and then select All Programs. From here, in just about all laptops you choose Accessories and then System Tools and finally Disk Defragmenter. Try doing this every other week or even better- do it every Monday.
In addition to that you'll want to maintain your laptop by getting rid of temporary and corrupt files. Internet files get downloaded on all laptops to a temporary spot. It doesn't take much surfing for this spot on cheap laptop ...
... to fill up with dead weight. This is easy to do as well. For this you will want to select Run from the START tab and then type TEMP and hit enter. This is where you will delete these surplus files. Some of these files may be corrupt with problem causing viruses. This will bring up the next tip in caring for your laptop.
You'll want to keep your products up to date often. This will insure some protection against viruses even on cheap laptops. Check for malware often because it can erode your data and steal important information for the person who designed it. Make sure to keep an up to date virus protection so that your laptop is protected. Quality spyware protection is also vital. Keep your firewall on and make sure to turn it on when you set the laptop up.
Keep It Clean:
Sure, we've covered how to help keep the software running well and how to keep it protected; but what about the rest of the laptop? You will want to be mindful of this part of your cheap laptop also. Don't leave your laptop in abnormally high or low temperatures. This can be damaging to the sensitive hardware inside.
You should also keep all food and drink from getting near your laptop. You don't want to get crumbs in the keyboard or have a spill because this, too can damage the hardware. Keeping your laptop out of the sun should be a given. Consider keeping your laptop away from microwaves as well as magnets because of the potential problems there.
Clean your laptop regularly, keeping dust away from it and especially away from the keyboard. Of course you'll want your screen on your laptop clean. Try using the small tip of your vacuum hose and suck the dust out of the keyboard. This small routine can help the cheap laptops run as well as any high end laptop.
