Work Related Problems In Commercial Printing

In every industry, there are really problem workers. In a printing company where these daily wage and contractual workers abound, there are a lot of them there. Sometimes, it is crazy and unthinkable why someone who gets paid on a daily rate will not report for work when they know that if they do not work, they will not get paid. But such is the situation in a lot of those printing companies. And since commercial printing is dependent on deadlines, a lot of them could not make it because of these problem workers.

1. Tardiness. Despite the measures that companies impose, like deductions to those who are late for more than 15 minutes, people in the production are still late in coming to work. And sometimes, it is not really because of an emergency. It is just plain chronic tardiness that makes them late for work. Sometimes, it is because they were drunk the night before. Sometimes they had coffee on the way to work and had a chit chat with a long-time friend. The reasons vary but very few of them are life-threatening. ... all up in a span of one year. This will also mean losses for the commercial printing business because the workforce is supposed to be an asset and not a liability.

2. Absences. Even if they are paid daily, they still fail to report for work and they just have so many reasons. But in the end, the bottom line is just pure laziness. And sometimes, to get back to their supervisor or manager, they will be absent when they know that there is a pressing job to be finished. That is their little revenge because if they do not report for work, it will be panic mode at the production. It is crazy but it happens and then they complain that when payday comes, they get a small salary.

3. No Sense of Responsibility. Additionally, a lot of people in printing do not have a sense of responsibility. They are not very careful with the use of supplies. In short, they are wasteful. They do not value their time at work, even if the company owns their time at work. If they can get away from work, they would. And the facts that they are often absent and late do not show that they are responsible at all. That is why many of them just retire without having experienced getting a promotion of some sort from work. They are not reliable at all. While it is true that they also get salary increases from time to time as mandated by the law, but they do not move up the ladder because of their attitude.

Such are the problems that a commercial printer contends with. So if you are in the business of commercial printing, it would be wise to have a supervisor who handles the print management in the production area and a separate human resource personnel to take care of these employee concerns because they can cause a lot of headache to the owner if he will personally face them all. It would also be good to hold some team building activities and seminars that will target work ethics and attitude so that there will be positive changes in the lives of these workers.
