Matrimony marks the most important occasion in any Indian family. It is known to be a life changing decision, which welcomes a new chapter in the lives of bride and groom. Looks is the most important aspect, which is taken into consideration by the couple at their wedding day. This is because; wedding is the D- day in the lives of the families of both bride and groom. All the matrimony types in India are practised with great glamour and perfection. Punjabi matrimony, one of the most widespread marriage forms in India, is also celebrated with great joy and fun filled moments. Punjabi brides and grooms take great care of the looks and their dress up for the wedding day. The wedding attire, hairstyle, accessories, everything is matched up between the bride and groom. One of the essential features, which enhance the beauty of the Punjabi Bride, is her Hairstyle.

Earlier, there were not many options in the hairstyle or the accessories used to beautify the same. But, now with the changing times and brides becoming more cautious of their looks, new hairstyles have got introduced. Some of the bridal hairstyles, which can be used ...
... by a Punjabi bride in her matrimony, are mentioned below.

Traditional hairstyle for the Punjabi Matrimonial
Jooda, or tying a bun at the back of the head has always been the most proffered hairstyle by the Punjabi brides. This defines the traditional look of a Punjabi woman and helps her in getting painted in the original colours of a Punjabi bride. Also, tying a Jooda, gives space to the neck to be decked up with more of Jewellery. There are a number of Jooda styles, which are made by the hairstylists these days. Accessorising the Jooda with colourful pins and flowers is another popular practise witnessed in the hairstyles of Punjabi brides.

Tying plates with a colourful parandi
This is the most gracious hairstyle adopted by a bride in Punjabi families. This helps in giving them the look of a pure Punjaban. Parandi with fulkari dupatta on the head adds stars to the beauty of the Punjabi Bride. These days, the plates are decorated with colourful pins, matching the wedding attire of the bride. Additional hair is added to make the plate longer and thick. Artificial flowers are used to smarten the hairstyle of the Punjabi bride.

Parted hairstyle
Parted hairstyle is generally used by those Punjabi brides, who have the ceremony of vermillion in their religion. In these cases, the groom needs to put vermillion or sindoor on the hair partition of the bride, so a parted hairstyle, makes it easier for the groom to carry the process. A plate, jooda, or a loose hairstyle is done after the parting in the front.

Curls or straightened hair
Many brides, who have small hair, also go for curls or pressing of the hair. Though these are simple styles, yet they look very elegant. Curls with roses on it or beaded arrangement looks amazing and serves her purpose of stealing attention of every single person present in the wedding ceremony.

The bride should complement the hairstyle with her dress and Jewellery. The face structure and the length of the neck of the bride need to be kept in mind, before finalising her hairstyle. The hairstyle should not be made heavy, because the bride has to carry it for long. So, the weight of the accessories on Hairstyle should be tolerable and according to the bride’s stamina. It’s not important to deck up the bride with loads of jewellery, loud make up and heavy hairstyle, what is more important, is that it should suit her personality and she is able to present it well.
