How To Define Fonts On Website To Increase Readability
Readability is an important aspect of a website design. Though seems to be a minor subject, readability has a huge impact on visitors. You have to increase readability of your website to keep visitors reading easily. A visitor will come again and again to a website, providing an outstanding viewing experience to him.
There are many aspects that should be taken into consideration to increase the readability of a website. The key to readability lies on many factors such as layout, design, color contrast, font choice and many more. Font choice is an element that should be handled properly to gain readability. However, there are no specified rules or formulas for the right font to be chosen. These are the suggestions, which come out of experiment with fonts.
The very first point to remind is that size, style and format of font used on your website affects a reader visiting on webpage. You should know how this aspect to be settled down to increase readability.

Simple and clean font is the key to improve the readability of a website. If you are highlighting some phrase then it should be of same font size, otherwise it can break the flow of reading. All the body text in capital letters is not appreciated as the similar size text is difficult to read and make the reading process much slower. A faint gray color will not draw any attention of the reader and it can be used for the information that has to be there, however isn’t central such as the post date, author.
Headings and subheadings must be stand out with bold fonts. It helps the reader to scan down the text conveniently. To improve the readability one can use larger fonts, underlines and different color for the headings. Verdana and Georgia are the two fonts that can provide excellent readability as they are created particularly for screen viewing.
To increase the readability use basic, simple and easily readable text font and avoid small font sizes. You can see the difference in readability of a website by trying out these above tips regarding the use of fonts.
