Wireless network infrastructure with internet connectivity for small businesses today is a must in order to support the continuity of the business. There are lots of networking devices available in the market you can use to build a wireless network for your small office. The good thing is that those devices are affordable and easy to setup even by inexperienced user in networking. Generally the main reason user builds a wireless network in homes or in small offices is to be able to share single broadband internet connection with many computers.

There are two types of popular internet services you can sign up for your home or small office: the wired broadband internet (including cable and DSL) and the wireless cellular network including 3g and 4g. The all-in-one devices are available in the market to ease you build the network with less effort, its is the wireless router with built-in modem in a single compact device. The Netgear DGND3700 N600 wireless router and Cradlepoint MBR1400 wireless mobile router are two multi-function routers you can choose to build your small business network. Now, which one is suitable to ...
... meet your business requirements?

The Netgear DGND3700 is an all-in-one wireless router with built-in ADSL modem. So if you subscribe the DSL internet service, you don’t need an ADSL modem. Can you use this router for Cable internet services? Off course you can but you require a cable modem. This DGND3700 is unusual the way it includes built-in ADSL modem and it also includes one gigabit WAN Ethernet port to let you connect to the cable modem when the DSL service is not available. Unfortunately, you cannot use both ADSL and Cable services concurrently by means of load balancing or failover like other types of dual WAN routers for businesses.

Unlike the DGND3700 which is designed for wired internet connection either DSL or Cable, the Cradlepoint MBR1400 is designed for both wired broadband and cellular internet connections concurrently. With MBR1400 you can connect its Gigabit WAN port to either Cable or DSL modem, and at the same time you can also install USB or Express-card cellular modems into the router to work together in load balancing or failover modes. In failover mode, you can configure the wired Internet (with cable or DSL modem) as the primary internet connection and the USB / Express-Card modems as the backup connection. When the primary internet connection fails, the systems will failover to the backup connection. In load balancing mode, users connect to the internet and the system manages the connection to the best line available automatically.

Both DGND3700 and MBR1400 routers support dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) however, the DGND3700 supports dual band simultaneously and MBR1400 supports selectable dual band. With simultaneous dual band your network environment can support both wireless clients that work either in 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands at the same time. But with selectable dual band, basically the router supports single band in a time. If you have multiple wireless clients which operates in both bands, and you require to cover them at the same time the DGND3700 is suitable for your network environment.

Both routers include five gigabit Ethernet ports but they have different functions. The DGND3700 ADSL wireless router includes four gigabit LAN Ethernet ports and one gigabit WAN port for cable modem connection. But MBR1400 includes five gigabit Ethernet ports configurable for WAN ports. By default it is designed for four LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. MBR1400 wireless mobile router is very flexible to let you configure the number of WAN ports for load balancing.

For home entertainment, the DGND3700 ADSL wireless router is an ideal solution knowing that the router includes one USB port to let you share the external storage and moreover the router supports UPnP and built-in media server with DLNA certified to let you stream HD media to any types of home theater devices and for smooth gaming experiences.
The MBR1400 wireless mobile router is ideal solution to support small businesses knowing that the router supports three USB ports and two Express-card ports for cellular data modems and includes five gigabit Ethernet ports configurable for WAN ports for load balancing or failover modes.

For home theater environment the DGND3700 DSL wireless router is your ideal solution. However, to support your small business for mission critical internet connectivity the MBR1400 wireless mobile router is ideal solution.
